Why?

In Uganda, poverty affects the ability to sell products and make a profit. Since there is no solid market, many people are prevented from reaching their full potential. They want to sell their products, but with no customer base, they remain in poverty.

How?

CashForCrafts teaches women and students to create baskets, handbags, necklaces and bracelets from recycled paper. The crafts are sold in the U.S. and all the money made through sales goes directly back to our parents and our school. This women’s group is a member of The Uganda Federation for Alternative Trade (UGAFAT), which is a network for fair trade producers and organizations in Uganda. These opportunities enable the artisans support their economic futures.
