Why?
In a patriarchal society it is women who bear the burdens of housekeeping, child rearing, fetching water, cooking and tending to community needs. Domestic violence toward women is directly attributable to poverty and many women report an inability to leave their villages to access greater opportunities. Without help, the cycle of poverty never ends.
How?
CashForTailoring empowers women to become financially independent through learning how to sew and developing advanced tailoring skills. Talented women, judged to have the best skills at the end of the training program, receive a loan to purchase a sewing machine and begin work to attain financial independence.
